Humanitarian Travel, Reimagined
ROAM Humanitarian is very excited to partner with Oakwood School for a Peru expedition that includes culture, adventure, and powerful opportunities to serve. Renowned for its rich history and breathtaking landscapes, Peru is a land of ancient wonders and vibrant traditions.
About Your Expedition
After landing in Lima, kick off your journey with an unforgettable experience—swimming with sea lions off the coast! Then, hop on a short flight to the city of Cusco, nestled high in the Andes at over 11,000 feet. As you acclimate to the altitude, dive straight into community outreach—distributing food and essential items to families in need. You’ll also have the chance to explore vibrant textile markets and even pet a real alpaca!
Throughout the trip, you’ll serve in a variety of impactful projects. From supporting rural schools and orphanages, to working with underprivileged and special needs children, your efforts will leave a lasting impact. You’ll also assist with sustainable farming initiatives, indigenous tree planting, and freshwater access projects in surrounding villages. These experiences will stretch you—expect long, meaningful days filled with connection, purpose, and hard work. Exact service details will be confirmed as the trip gets closer.
Your adventure continues as you mountain bike through stunning Andean scenery, zipline across deep ravines, soak in natural hot springs, and experience amazing river rafting (weather permitting)! Then, prepare for the iconic 8-mile journey to Aguas Calientes, the base of Machu Picchu—one of the seven wonders of the modern world. After exploring the ancient ruins, take the historic train back to Cusco to reflect on your journey.
This is not your average trip—it’s a fast-paced, deeply immersive experience full of purpose, adventure, and memories you’ll carry forever.
