About this Trip

With its unique cuisine, rich culture, some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and welcoming people, Brazil is the perfect place for service, adventure, and the sun on your shoulders!

Fly into Florianopolis where our time will be spent serving and adventuring. Most days will include working side by side with the local people while we provide education and improvement projects to the poorest area in Southern Brazil. Here we will provide families with clean water filters and teach self-sufficiency classes. We will spend time working at a community center and deliver much needed food. Connect with the elderly at a low-income nursing home, where elders are in desperate need of love, service and quality time. Work at a low income after-school program and help improve the lives of students both at home and at school.

Take surf lessons and paddle board on some of the most iconic beaches and shorelines in the world, sand board down Joaquina Dunes that stretch from a nearby lake all the way to the ocean, and ride horses along the unforgettable coast.

This expedition pace and projects are the perfect mix of hard work, growth, and pure beachy bliss.

Who can apply for a service expedition/trip?

Service trips are open to adults over the age of 18 or family groups. The minimum age of participants within a family group is 8 years old. If you are younger than 18 and would like to attend without your family, you must apply with a chaperone and obtain a parent consent form.

You will need to be able to effectively care for yourself and family members including allergies and other mental or physical restrictions. Participants should be healthy enough to participate in long days of working and playing hard with a rigorous schedule. Many expeditions also have portions of the trip that are filled with adventure, and sleeping accommodations may involve camping. Review the itinerary to be sure it is the right fit for you.

Who are my expedition leaders?

Mike & Robyn Ross (November) - Mike and Robyn and their family love traveling and serving others. It was a match made in Peru when they traveled with ROAM on their first family humanitarian expedition! They are beyond excited to lead this group and continue their work with ROAM Humanitarian.

What discounts are available to me and my family?

$250 off for students (non-stackable)

$250 off for family/friend groups of six or more participants (non-stackable)

$250 for previous ROAMers (this is not your first ROAM Humanitarian expedition, non-stackable)

When are trip fees due?

Payment schedules are listed on our website under each individual trip tab. In addition, you will receive a welcome email and monthly invoice with the payment schedule attached as well.

We will not hold your spot without a non-refundable $500 deposit. Thereafter, there will be a deadline for half expedition fees due, and a final donation deadline.
